Abstract

The aim of this study was to comprehend the experience of an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder diagnosis in young adults, for this purpose a semi-structured interview was conducted with
informants between the ages of 20 and 40 with the presence of such a diagnosis, being analyzed by
the hermeneutic method in order to perform a relevant categorization of the qualitative study, under
the interpretative paradigm and phenomenological research. The results were based on the central
theme "Experiences of Young Adults with ADHD," which consisted of five categories: knowledge
of the disorder, emotions, experiences in daily life, difficulties faced by adults with the diagnosis,
and tools used in their daily lives. Throughout the study, the participants demonstrated behaviors
and emotions characteristic of the disorder in a more intense and profound way, affecting areas such
as work, finances, relationships, self-esteem, self-perception, and their ability to interact with their
environment.
